The influence of internet games

 May 24, 2009, 10:39 am (2 years ago)
A 12 year old boy committed suicide last week has indicated the fact that online gambling sites may be amongst the many given the impact by a challenge to enforce a complete online gaming prohibition by a Thai criminal court.

This boy committed suicide by jumping off from a 6th floor balcony just because his parents forbade him to play internet games. Apparently, the his parents were afraid of the possibility of him becoming addicted to shoot ‘em ups.

The court apparently issued an order forcing the Information and Communications Technology Ministry to act against around 72 as yet unrevealed sites that it claimed were supporting computer gaming generally.

In complying with the order, the Department of Special Investigation said it would inform the country’s Internet service suppliers. Deputy Chief Suchart Wong-anandchai stated that ISPs established to have support or just offer online access to the sites would see loss of license, fines, and possible imprisonment.
