Casino News: Harrah’s Entertainment hard decision

Harrah’s Entertainment hard decision

 March 23, 2009, 2:23 am (2 years ago)
Gaming industry specialists say Harrah's Entertainment is going to have to sell several properties to evade insolvency and ease liquidity problems. Online casino operators are expecting one of the assets Harrah's is going to need to sell off is going to be the brand rights to the World Series of Poker.

Harrah's has managed the WSOP brand since it purchased Binion's to obtain the world's leading poker competition. But the company has never exercised its rights online, and conjecture has been that an Internet poker room with the WSOP logo would be a big hit. Harrah's would want to keep its rights and arrange its own online casinos once the UIGEA is canceled, but apparently, its economic situation won’t allow it.
