Philippines boosting income with online gambling February 4, 2009, 9:20 am (4 years ago)Apparently the Internet gambling has become one of the money-making business activities for the publicly-listed Philippines online gambling operator PhilWeb Corporation, which last week revealed total net income up by a notable 29 % throughout 2008.
In a statement to the Philippine Stock Exchange, the firm revealed that its net income for last year was $6.11 million against $4.74 million in 2007, with core earnings up 90 percent to $4.88 million from $2.57 million. "The key driver of core net profits is still Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) electronic games cafes," Dennis Valdes, President for PhilWeb stated. He also explained that the company's income contained earnings from PhilWeb investments in ISM Communications Corporation, which has 77.7 % of Eastern Telecommunications Corporation. Valdes announced that the company had started 45 new gaming cafes in the Philippines last year, totaling to 121, and had enthusiastically increased its games range to add Basketball Jackpot, Premyo Sa Resibo and Txtingo Super Singko. This saw the firm’s total income boosted 71 % annual to achieve a record $9.75 million.
