Svenska Spel acknowledged for accountable gambling
November 3, 2008, 7:29 am (3 years ago)The Swedish state-owned gambling monopoly Svenska Spel was acknowledged for its dedication to accountable gambling at the World Lottery Association’s meeting in Rhodes last week. Svenska Spel’s acting CEO Anders Hдgg explained he was happy to get acknowledgment for the serious investment the firm has made in the field, while Sweden's Finance Minister Anders Borg explained he was very satisfied with the company.
The reward was instituted throughout the WLA's meeting in Singapore previously in 2006, to hearten the industry’s work with accountable gambling. The reward – the WLA Award for Responsible Gaming Excellence – is rewarded to the company that signifies ‘best practice’ within the field of accountable gambling.
WLA president Arch Gleason and the jury’s chairman, Mike Randall, revealed that the reward this year may go to Svenska Spel which "....by and large shows 1st class performance in the field of accountable gambling." Svenska Spel also receive 1st prize for the most excellent training program in the gaming agent/retailer sub-group.
The juries were of specialists in Corporate Social Responsibility, all from other businesses including banking and trade and industry.
