Economical crisis affecting Nevada numbers
October 12, 2008, 7:04 am (3 years ago)It seems that the financial crisis keeps on to discourage gamblers from the expenditure of traveling to land casinos, with the latest numbers from the Nevada Gaming Control Board showing waning gaming incomes for the 8th straight month.
The numbers relate to August 2008 and indicate that throughout the gambling state gaming incomes were $934.1 million, an 8.1 % fall in relation to the $1.016 billion marked for August one year ago. Looking particularly at the Las Vegas Strip, gaming incomes were $494 million, a 7.4 % fall compared with $533.6 million during the same period last year.
The Year to Date numbers for the 1st 8 months of the year indicate Nevada State gaming incomes fell 6.8 %, the biggest fall since the state began maintaining records in 1984. The same period on the Strip indicates a 6.6 fall in gaming incomes compared with YTD 2007 records.
The declining incomes have unavoidably led to reduced tax harvests for the authorities. The state gathered $54.6 million based the monthly income totals, a decline of 6.2 % compared with $58.2 million gathered in August 2007.
