Cagayan start to garner attention

The Manila Inquirer’s report shows that IP-Converge, the data centre subsidiary of IPVG Corporation, has united with the First Cagayan Leisure and Resort Corp (FCLRC) in a joint venture to put up a data centre in the Philippines province to offer online gambling hosting services for foreign online gaming companies.
FCLRC has a 60 percent stake in First Cagayan Converge Data Center, Inc. (FCCDCI), a Philippine-based Internet service and IT solutions e-commerce outfit based in an IT park at the Cagayan Special Economic Zone (CSEZ) in Sta. Ana.

Rene Nunez, FCLRC vice president announced this week that the amount of total investment in the jv will be from $3 million to $5 million. He also added that FCLRC is already hosting eight foreign companies in Cagayan. These companies run online casinos.

CSEZ is the only one allowed by local law to license online gaming as a tourism-related industry. FCLRC holds an additional 18 companies at the main IP-Converge facility located at the RCBC Tower in Makati City. According to Nunez, almost all of these clients have Asia-Pacific-facing operations.

Nunez told the Manila Inquirer that by law, they can not take in bets from the Philippines and the United States, so they manage the IP traffic.
