AGA big investment on lobbying in Q1/2008

 June 10, 2008, 6:23 am (3 years ago)
Associated Press reported that the AGA (American Gaming Association), trade association representing most of the U.S. land based gambling companies, invested $800,000 in political lobbying in the first quarter of 2008.
The AGA's main interest was online gambling. With a proposal for federal study to inspect the consequences of licensing, regulating and taxing the Internet gambling business, and a proposal that would give license to companies that accept online gambling, there are some indications that there might be some progress in online gambling. The Association also lobbied on a policy aiming to attract more tourists to the U.S., and rules governing the taxation of employee tips.

According to a mandatory declaration from filed April 18 with the House of clerk’s office, the main targets of lobbying in the first three months of the year were congress and the Treasury Department.
