The first ever television ad for online gambling...
December 13, 2007, 10:56 am (3 years ago)The first ever television ad for online gambling is set to be broadcast in Wales and North East England. The ads will allow for online gambling companies to broadcast pictures of actual game play on television. The top paying spots are expected to last for 30 seconds. Online casinos from all across Europe will be sending their ads to the UK with very large amounts of money to capture one of the highly coveted commercial sessions. That is, however, provided that they are included in the UK’s White List. Only certain territories will be permitted to advertise.
Also included in the new advertising genre will be radio stations, buses, and of course, the Internet. Profits are expected to peak for many industries due to this new advertising course.
The UK’s White List was constructed to allow gaming operators in other European Union countries to advertise in Britain. It has also stated that it’s intention is not to ban people who live outside of the UK from gambling in a UK located casino. The government has stated that “It is up to the consumer what they do." The government, however, will do everything possible to protect those gamblers from the UK. The UK Culture Secretary, James Purnell, stated recently that "Protection is my No. 1 priority."
This new outlook by the UK government in regards to online gambling could well lead the way for other countries to follow, thus allowing the online gambling industry to mainstream its way into homes across the globe.
