Increased interest in eCOGRA servicesAugust 4, 2007, 5:17 pm (4 years ago)The e-Commerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance (eCOGRA), an independent player protection and standards body in the United Kingdom, has revealed that interest in its professional services is growing quickly.
eCOGRA now provides specialist reviews and advisory services, as requested by operators to meet their industry and business requirements. A special team has been appointed to provide these services. The marked increase is mostly as a result of the non-profit organization’s decision this year to accept online gaming operators that do not use eCOGRA member software providers’ software products. eCOGRA chief executive officer Andrew Beveridge commented that it is encouraging to see a number of “big name” operators undergoing the inspection, probity checks and monitoring procedures used to accredit sites for the Safe and Fair eCOGRA seal. He stressed that standards remain the same and there is no reduction in the inspection and monitoring levels and feels the new regulations will benefit the industry as more and more online gambling operators will have independent certification that “the players are protected, the games are fair, and responsible practices are implemented”. eCOGRA partners with other organizations wanting to promote fair practices, and assists them by helping them to set standards and monitor compliance. It also recently developed standards specifically focused on the operation of affiliate programs. It said the standards are very popular with leading affiliate programs. eCOGRA is a non-profit organization and provides an international framework of best practice. At present, 118 sites comply with these requirements and bear the “Safe and Fair” Seal.
