World Poker Congress attracts industry’s big namesJuly 27, 2007, 3:11 pm (4 years ago)This year’s World Poker Congress (WPC) will welcome some of the industry’s top names when it takes place in late November in St Julian’s, Malta.
The keynote address for the Congress will be given by World Poker Tour Steve Lipscomb and World Series of Poker commissioner Jeffery Pollack. One of the organizers of the event, Sue Schneider says she is delighted that the two industry veterans will attend the event. She said the pair constitutes two of the people most responsible for the recent poker revolution. “With their unique perspective and wisdom, they will examine the global reach of the game and how it is penetrating international markets," she said. Lipscomb has been responsible for the recent growth of the WPT, including the 2005 launch of the Professional Players Tour (PPT), international expansion of WPT, and the branding of the WPT with a variety of different. As commissioner of the World Series of Poker, Pollack is said to have increased the professionalism of the event significantly which has been met with a positive reaction from players. Organizers say the World Poker Congress is the first conference to look at synergies between the live and online poker games. Discussions and seminars will cover such issues as marketing your poker room, player development, staging tournaments, legislation and economics in Europe, building a player base, business strategies, fraud and security, mergers and acquisitions, and more.
