With over sixty arrests and some accused still being sought, this week's online sports book arrests across New Jersey, New York and Connecticut have triggered a wave of media reportage and speculation. Among those yet to be detained and charged is a prominent New Jersey Assembleman and former mayor called Rudy Garcia.

Garcia's legal counsel, Stephen Turano, says his principal is not evading arrest and that he was merely one of the many betters who used the vast $30 million online gambling ring.

Turano stated that "He has not surrendered only because he is out of town on business and we are just making arrangements”. Turano also stated that “He had absolutely nothing to do with the operation of, or promoting of, gambling, he may have placed some bets, but that's the extent of it”, adding that Garcia is "a juicy target."

Nonetheless, the charges against Garcia could be more serious and may involve money laundering. Others that were charged Wednesday included strip club and restaurant owners, two former New York City detectives, one of whom worked in the Organized Crimes Division, a former Wall Street stock broker, a postal worker who took bets from the post office and a secretarial coordinator at a law firm.

The police reports are still on going and there could indeed be more arrests and charges to be prosecuted. When it comes to something like this it is very possible that there are more people that are also involved than what they are making out. There are so many ways that someone can get caught up in some drama like this and however they may not it but they will be found and they will have to live up to the static.

If you do not want to be caught up a mess like this it is best that you stay out of it and let the professionals so their work. If you know something and you do not let them know you too may get in trouble in the long run for not letting them in on what you know. When it comes to illegal gambling acts, the people that are involved are going to be caught and they are going to face charges, some of the charges that are pending right now can result in up to twenty five years in prison if not more.
