Bingo News: Five split $10,000 in Sun Bingo

Lady Luck was on the side of five Sun Beach Bingo players who won the jackpot yesterday in the last installment of the sizzling popular game.

Fay Jasman of Lac La Biche, Nicole Clausen of Gibbons and Cathy McMillan of Ponoka, along with Gladys Romanko and Suzanne Hrysio of Edmonton, split the $10,000 pot for a cool $2,000 each.

"I couldn't believe it," said Jasman when she found she'd won yesterday, adding she'd like to use her winnings to take a holiday.

Hrysio said she was at her job at Moxie's around 9:30 yesterday morning when her husband called to tell her of her good fortune. "I was really surprised. I needed two numbers, so I didn't think I had a chance," she said, adding a B.C. fishing holiday is now in her future thanks to the Sun.

Romanko said she didn't believe the news of her win, literally, after her husband suggested in an earlier game that she might have won. "I didn't believe him at first," she said. "Later on, I decided to check for myself, and sure enough, I was a winner. Wow!"

Sun Beach Bingo cards were put in each Sunday's Sun for the past six weeks. Each day, nine numbers were published on the pages of the Sun for weekly chances to win.

Don't give up if you didn't win daily or weekly, because you can still qualify to win the trip to Mexico by entering your expired cards for the draw at the Sun's office.
