WSOP champion Jamie Gold was prevented from collecting his winnings by a district court judge. The judge has issued a restraining order to this effect. Gold was sponsored by Bodog.com. The order will be in force until the settlement of a lawsuit against Gold filed by Crispin Leyser. Being a television development executive, Leyzer is also the instructor for the World Poker Tour Boot Camp.
According to an agreement, which the duo had reached prior to the tournament, Leyser should be receiving half of Gold's first-place prize money from the WSOP main event, claims the lawsuit. It particularizes further that Leyser was approached by Gold, whose entry fee was paid by Bodog.com. Gold was aspiring assistance in finding celebrities to play under the Bodog flag.
Bodog is believed to have agreed to provide either Gold or Leyser a seat at the main event if celebrities were found. The lawsuit says, both players have agreed that whoever received the seat, would share equally their winnings with the other.
A restraining order was issued on Tuesday by Clark County (Nev.) Chief District Court Judge Kathy Hardcastle, in order to prevent Gold from receiving his booty from the Rio Hotel and Casino until first of September. The first hearing of the lawsuit is in the fixture, on that eventful day!
