Former chief executive officer of BetOnSports David Carruthers is said to be negotiating plea bargain with prosecutors. This is to avert a conviction for racketeering and fraud charges. Against him.
Even though he is now under 'hotel arrest' in a Clayton, Missouri, Carruthers was earlier released on a $1 million bail. Bail restrictions debar him from leaving his hotel except for a medical emergency and his court appearances. Carruthers, it is rumored, is forced to wear a bracelet in order to monitor his whereabouts.
According to Joseph Kelly the business law professor, the prosecutors in Carruthers' case are actually after information on Gary Kaplan, the architect of BetOnSports, who has been charged with 20 felony violations. The professor, who is also an online enthusiast said that, 'Once the plea is reached, Carruthers would cooperate with the prosecutors and bring to light everything.
Kelly opined that the case wouldn't go even to the extent of its first hearing. 'It's overwhelmingly probable that the government doesn't want to bring Carruthers to court, they really want him to plea bargain and turn over information on Kaplan.'
